The Pixiebob Breed in TICA and ACFA

Breed Committee Members 2009-2011

Lee Jordan, Committee Chair

LeeJo’s Pixiebobs

Lee has been involved with Pixiebobs since she acquired Squeaky in 1992 from Cynthia Horsfall. Squeaky is out of StoneIsland Vido Bandido and Stillwater Sophie. Lee’s long history with animals (she bred and showed Shelties, Samoyeds, and Quarter Horses to Champion levels since the 1960’s) led her to start showing Pixiebobs around 1995, and she eventually decided to become a breeder in 1996 or 1997. Lee has been at almost every TICA cat show in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia since! Over the years she has earned Regional Awards in the Northwest Region with both Pixiebobs and household pets. Lee lives in western Washington with her husband, a couple of dogs, and a few kitties.

Sharleen Horne

ExpresivePixie

Sharleen answered an ad in the Little Nickel newspaper and acquired StoneIsland’s Bigfoot from Carol Ann Brewer in August of 1992. Bigfoot was out of StoneIsland’s Samson and StoneIsland’s Stormy. Sharleen was so smitten with these cats that she started breeding them in 1994, when she acquired Dakotacountry Miss Nala. As soon as TICA allowed Pixiebobs to be exhibited in the show hall, Sharleen was there. At the first show where Pixiebobs were in the New Breed or Color class (NBC) Sharleen showed Saks Fifth Avemew for Bernida (Saks chose to honor the occasion by peeing in every ring). Sharleen has bred three cats that have achieved Top 20 International Wins, all three of which ultimately earned TICA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She was Chair of the breed committee prior to 2005.  Sharleen continues to actively show and promote the breed today. Shar lives in western Washington with her husband David and a houseful of Pixiebob children.

Janet McGee

Evergreen Pixiebobs

Janet learned about Pixiebobs from her mom (Lee Jordan), and got her first Pixiebob, Video, in 1992. She began showing Pixiebobs in TICA in 1995, and started breeding them in 1995 or 1996. She enjoys working  with her cats and taking care of her grandkids!  She is also a returning breed committee member, having served as Chair for the 2005-2008 term.  Janet lives near the Washington coast with her husband, a few dogs, and several cats.

Melinda 'Linna' Ritch, Secretary

DistinctivelyNW Pixiebobs

Linna got her first Pixiebob in 1994 – well, Linna’s husband Rusty got their first Pixiebob in 1994 from Gail Chaney. Two years later, Linna acquired her first breeding female – Harley Girl (out of Lionheart and Calamity Jane), from Sharleen & David Horne. Rusty wanted a motorcycle, Linna wanted a cat, hence the name. Harley was already entered for her first show as Exhibit Only, and Linna and Rusty attended the show and got hooked. They showed Harley Girl from coast to coast in support of the breed's application for Championship status.  Their first litter arrived in 1997, and they showed their first kitten, Harleys Davisson, to QGC. Having produced several best of breed winners over the years their passion for the breed remains strong. Linna and Rusty live in western Washington with their ‘gang’ of cats.

Shirley DeLong, Treasurer

ExpresiveTales Pixiebobs

Shirley first heard of TICA in 1998 when she attended a cat show with her girlfriend, who was showing a beautiful Ragdoll in the Alter class. As she attended more shows and got more involved with the Ragdolls, she got to know Sharleen Horne as the owner of a lovely longhaired Pixiebob that showed in the alter ring just before the Ragdolls. At a show in Seattle in February 2001 Sharleen showed Shirley a longhaired Pixiebob kitten she had available – and it was love at first sight. Since then, Shirley has had several Pixiebobs live with her and has shown several, two to Regional titles. Shirley lives in western Washington with her husband, daughter, and several kitties.
