Certified Pixiebob Breeder Program
This program was proposed by a Pixiebob Breeder, for Pixiebob Breeders.
Read more about what inspired the development of this program.
Administration of this program is by committee and comprised of volunteer TICA
and or ACFA members.Purpose
The Certified Pixiebob Breeder program (CPBB) is a VOLUNTARY
program intended to aid all Pixiebob breeders in building solid breeding
programs and foundations and to promote and improve the Pixiebob breed by breeding to the highest standards with a
focus on quality, temperament and consistent type as well as responsible
breeding practices.
The program is designed to bring together a network of experienced Pixiebob breeders
who consult and advise
each other by sharing their breeding experiences. It also serves as a
communication and research tool for breeders, and the public, to ensure that buyers get
only the healthiest cats and deal only with reputable and conscientious
breeders.
All breeders who complete the requirements will have their cattery listed in the
Breeder List on TICAPB.com with a APBB or
CPBB
designation behind the cattery owner's name ($10 USD annual listing fee applies).
Requirements
Associated Pixiebob Breeder Program (APBB)
The Associate Pixiebob Breeder designation asks for its members to:
- Be a current TICA or ACFA member in good standing.
- Have a registered Cattery with TICA or ACFA.
- Own/breed at least one (1) registered Pixiebob.
- Provide a copy of each cat's registration as proof of ownership.
- Register litters with TICA or ACFA.
- TCSnet subscription is encouraged but is optional, if you choose not to
subscribe you agree to share your pedigree data by other means for planning
purposes and building statistics on the breed.
- Not use and/or registered any non-permissible outcross in their
breeding program.
- Subscribe to and adhere to the CPBB Code of Conduct. (in PDF)
- Place unaltered cats from their first three (3) litters only within their
own or their CPBB Advisor's program. Any placement with another APBB
member only by the advice of their CPBB Advisor.
- Support the Pixiebob breeder community by volunteering time to
participate in:
a) Cat clubs/shows in either TICA or ACFA, or
b) TICAPB.com (contributing articles, share information, help with the upkeep of
the site)
- Attend a Pixiebob Breed Seminar or Show a Pixiebob in at least one (1) show every 3 years (TICA, ACFA).
- Never state or imply through any means, such as websites, business cards or
verbal conversations with the public that the Pixiebob is part bobcat or a
bobcat hybrid.
- Complete the Pixiebob Breed Standard seminar online exam.
Upon joining, a CPBB program member will be made available to
you as an Advisor unless you already have an active CPBB as your advisor.
An advisor is there to answer questions and help you with practical advice. If
you already have an advisor who is not a CPBB program member,
we would extend an invitation to that individual to participate in this program
as well. It is not required, but is encouraged. Any new applications will be
retroactive to the date of purchase of your first Pixiebob, if you have had an
active CPBB as your advisor during this time.
For example: Breeder X bought cat from Breeder Y 2 years ago. Breeder Y has advised
Breeder X since that purchase. Breeder Y has applied and become a CPBB. Breeder X applies for APBB and will only have
to fulfill one year as APBB before being able to apply for CPBB.
